Dicky Chalmers is a British film director and writer, internationally recognised for genre storytelling that seamlessly blends cutting-edge technology and emotional intensity.
Based in Taipei and working globally, Dicky grew up in Dubai, studied literature at Oxford, and trained in filmmaking in Tokyo, crafting a truly unique cinematic sensibility that bridges Eastern and Western storytelling. Over 20 years directing commercials and narrative projects in Japan, Taiwan, and China, he has developed an intuitive command of multilingual production environments.
His acclaimed short films — sci-fi thriller ANGEL and the experimental SELFIE — have screened at top international festivals including Austin, Raindance, HollyShorts, and Golden Horse. In 2023, his official Ultraseven concept short film for Tsuburaya Productions garnered over one million views, demonstrating his exceptional ability to connect global audiences with innovative, genre-driven narratives.
Currently, Dicky is developing his highly anticipated debut feature, COLD — a thriller selected for project markets at Golden Horse and Udine’s Focus Asia. Passionate about pushing boundaries in filmmaking, he is also a pioneering voice in integrating Generative AI technology into creative workflows, developing new visual storytelling methodologies.
